Microsoft is Expanding Cloud Logging for Global Customers Following Increase of Cyber Attacks

Updated: Jul 20, 2023

Enhanced cybersecurity from expanded cloud logs

On Wednesday July 19th, Microsoft announced its plans to expand cloud logging capabilities for their global customers at no additional cost. The decision was made to enhance visibility and assist organizations within the investigation of cybersecurity incidents.

Microsoft's proactivity appears to be a direct response to the escalating frequency and sophistication of nation-state cyber threats, including the cyber attacks targeting their email infrastructure reported earlier this year. Microsoft recognizes the gravity of the situation and is committed to strengthening its security measures to ensure customers & stakeholders remain protected. They issued a statement found here providing additional information, including brief overview of upcoming changes to Microsoft Purview Audit allowing customers to centralize and view cloud logs across deployed resources.

The rollout of these improved features is scheduled for September 2023, benefiting both government and commercial customers alike. At FuturiSec, we wholeheartedly support Microsoft's decision to expand access to cloud logging capabilities. As cybersecurity professionals, we understand the critical importance of granular security visibility & controls to help safeguard both personal & customer data. We firmly believe that access to technology that enhances data security should be available & accessible to all organizations, regardless of their size or resources.
